...the so-called "left." We no longer have a left in America. The left does things like call general strikes and elect politicians who give money to the poor. What we have in America is a raging, all-consuming right-wing inferno, and various ways of dealing with it: complaining, fighting (and losing) issue by issue, halfway going along with it and calling yourself a "moderate," pushing it to even greater extremes so it burns out faster, watching it and learning, or taking shelter and planning for recovery after it passes.
